Irvine, CA (PRWEB) December 4, 2009

Govplace , provider of enterprise IT solutions for the public sector, has been awarded a contract to design, build and manage IT storage and disaster recovery for the County of Orange, California. The County will leverage a Govplace IaaS offering to improve government efficiency, enhance its disaster recovery response and reduce costs.

With this Govplace IaaS offering, the County will be able to pay-as-they-go for their IT storage and disaster recovery service needs. Govplace will guarantee predetermined levels of performance, support and reliability to meet the County’s storage and disaster recovery needs. This arrangement will allow the County to scale up their IT storage and backup needs quickly, without large start up expenses, and only pay for the resources they use.

The County of Orange will realize a number of benefits that will enable it to better meet the needs of residents. This Govplace IaaS solution will lower operating costs, capital outlay and manpower expenses, as well as enables the County to improve the level of service it provides to internal organizations and residents. Additionally, Govplace’s IaaS solution greatly improves the County’s data backup efforts, and in the event of a disaster, speeds the recovery of data and systems.

A key component of the Govplace IaaS solution will be mainframe integration. The Govplace IaaS solution will allow the County to continue to use its legacy mainframe environment, and even increase performance, while greatly reducing operating and backup costs. As an example, the mainframe integration will reduce media (tape) and storage expenses, provide faster back up and restores, and reduce manpower needs for the County.

“This IT solution will improve efficiency and enhance our disaster recovery capability,” said KC Roestenberg, Director of Business IT Shared Services for the County of Orange, California. “We appreciate the contributions of Govplace in the design and management of this innovative solution”

“Now, more than ever, customers require effective and efficient services and solutions with a limited budget,” said Damon Brown, Chief Technical Officer at Govplace. “This led us to create customized solutions, like Infrastructure-as-a-Service, which improve the efficiency of our customer’s data centers at a considerably reduced expense.”
