Position Overview:
Govplace is seeking an engineering professional who is passionate about their work, possesses a sense of humor, and has a desire to lead change. Our rapidly expanding Professional Services organization is looking to add a Senior-level, A-list Data Center Systems Engineer. This growth opportunity affords the top-tier candidate the chance to assist us in building and molding an enterprise-class services organization through their past experience in a similar organization.  As the Professional Services group continues to grow, you will be looked upon to act in a practice management and leadership role and will also be responsible for managing many of your own engagements with customers.  As a key contributor on the Govplace Engineering team, this role will help to build the professional services group as part of our long-term company strategy.

Govplace is a well-established and rapidly growing systems integrator. Govplace sells, implements, and supports mission critical data security, storage and server consolidation solutions to public sector agencies. Govplace clients include federal, state and local government as well as education and healthcare. This position is based in Reston, VA.

The Senior Data Center Systems Engineer will:

• Take on the role of Subject Matter Expert in all areas of technical skills paired with strong Pre-Sales capabilities.
• Meet and build confidence with customers, cultivating and listening to customer needs, and leading with expert-level analysis the design of solutions. 
• Provide Pre-Sales expertise around data center efficiency, disaster recovery and network infrastructure.
• Train and transfer knowledge to customers, including leading semi-formal to formal training sessions and developing light curriculum.
• Deploy and/or assist with the deployment of solutions using the appropriate technologies. 
• Create documentation and present formal requirements, designs and as-built configurations to customers.
• Lead and assist with the creation/modification of Statements of Work and proposals.
• Conduct consulting-level assessments, create work products, and detail gap analyses resulting from the assessments.

Required Skills:
Technical Expertise in and/or certifications in the following:

• HP and Dell x86/x64 Servers, and HP and Sun UNIX Server Platforms
• VMware ESX and Virtual Center
• VMware View (VDI) and Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
• Data Center Data Storage Infrastructure and Networking Infrastructure
• Federal Government Information Security Strategies

The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills and a proven track record of successful solution delivery. You will possess excellent presentation and communication skills to represent Govplace at industry events and forums, including formal presentations, seminars, and be an active participant in the Govplace blog. Experience will encompass expertise in solving challenging engineering and architectural problems across a vast domain of datacenter technologies. VMWare certification a definite plus!
