Customer Case Study – AWS Cloud Services
The Customer.
A prominent federal agency dedicated to promoting and supporting research related to health and wellness that is recognized for its commitment to improving public health and scientific research.
The Problem.
The healthcare agency needed immediate access to cloud server resources, such as AWS Elastic Compute (EC2) and cloud consulting services. These resources were necessary to ensure a highly available, scalable, and secure environment for hosting a vital application crucial to supporting the medical research community they serve.
The Challenge.
The federal healthcare agency sought an adept cloud hosting provider with the capability to simplify the cloud procurement and hosting procedures, thus allowing the agency’s staff to concentrate on their mission-critical tasks.
The Solution.
Govplace collaborated with AWS to fulfill the agencies requirements. AWS was a logical choice as the provider for these cloud services and, in fact, was the first choice for the agencies Cloud Service Provider (CSP). Being the world’s most comprehensive and widely adopted cloud platform, AWS perfectly aligned with all the agencies essential criteria for scalability and flexibility. Moreover, Govplace could offer the necessary AWS services through a readily accessible Federal contract mechanism at a competitive price point. Govplace serves as the prime contractor, overseeing the project and delivering billing and support services. Under this arrangement, the healthcare agency benefits from:
- Direct access to AWS Reserved Instances (RI) and On-Demand Dynamic Instances.
- Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Virtual Hosts.
- Backup capabilities, including Elastic Block Storage (EBS) Services and S3 Data Storage and Transfers.
- 24x7x365 technical support from U.S. personnel.
- Architecture reviews.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME) resources available to augment existing cloud resources as necessary.
- AWS Billing and Account Management Support Services.
The Results.
As a result of Govplace’s involvement with this project, the agency saw the following results:
- On-premises application moved to their AWS Cloud environment
- Growth in AWS consumption of approximately 100% from initial deployment – a clear indication of the ability to scale and keep pace as the agency’s environment has grown.
