Govplace Partners with Junior Achievement of Greater Washington Teaching Students Financial Literacy

Recently our Govplace accounting and finance teams partnered with Junior Achievement of Greater Washington, at their innovative facility Finance Park located at Robert Frost Middle School in Fairfax, VA. This organization is dedicated to the success of preparing our local youth for financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship while engaging the classroom and community together to make learning relevant and authentic for every student.

Fairfax County middle schoolers complete a 14-week classroom curriculum including learning how to budget, save, invest, pay off debt, and make informed financial decisions with a goal to empower students to take control of their financial future. Students use their skills learned in the program to attend Finance Park, an enhanced real-world setting to learn how their choices can affect their future.

Our Govplace team guided students through a day-long digital budgeting experience, inspiring, and empowering students to work hard, stay in school and achieve their dreams.

“It’s a rewarding experience because you are able to guide the students through
this journey”

Ginny Emmer - Accountant, Govplace

Ginny Emmer, Govplace Accountant said “It’s a rewarding experience because you are able to guide the students through this journey and it’s fun to see them realizing that after buying a house, groceries, health insurance, and other essentials for their family, they can no longer afford all of the luxury items they were dreaming of – without a plan!”.

This is a great example of our Govplace values on display in our local community – DOING WHAT MATTERS – and making a positive impact on our future leaders.
