Event Highlights from NetApp’s U.S. Public Sector Insight Xtra Conference

BETHESDA, MD (June 18, 2024) – The Govplace team had the privilege of attending the NetApp U.S. Public Sector Insight Xtra Conference on June 4th. We gathered valuable insights into NetApp’s technology advancements and strategic direction, emphasizing security, innovation, and performance.

Security at the Core

Over the past 25 years, as technology has evolved, NetApp has consistently achieved more security accreditations than any other company in the industry. This is because NetApp has never treated security as an afterthought or a mere add-on feature. Intelligent Data Infrastructure

The concept of Intelligent Data Infrastructure perfectly encapsulates the comprehensive value NetApp brings to the table. This infrastructure is designed to minimize the need for additional bolt-ons that organizations typically use to secure, access, and manage their data. By guiding our customers toward NetApp’s Intelligent Data Infrastructure, we can provide a unified licensing model that enables all features necessary for ransomware protection, automated data movement, and efficient management of NFS, S3, file shares, and large language models.

Service Lifecycle Program (SLP)

One of the standout programs highlighted at the conference is the Service Lifecycle Program (SLP). We are actively encouraging our customers to adopt SLP, which offers free upgrades of storage control heads after three years of operation, all without disrupting service. This program is designed to help organizations cluster their storage, making it easier to mine data across multiple data lakes or silos.

Performance Enhancements with New Platforms

NetApp continues to push the envelope with new platforms that deliver double the performance at the same price point. A significant leap forward is driven by the integration of Intel’s Sapphire Rapids CPUs with Quick Assist Technology (QAT). This combination allows newer systems to offload compression and encryption tasks from the CPU, dramatically boosting performance. For instance, systems equipped with QAT can outperform even the top-tier A900, guaranteeing double the performance and a 4:1 storage efficiency.

NetApp’s AFF A-Series is truly impressive:

A70 and A90

These integrated controllers come with 48 internal drives and outperform the A900, though they have fewer PCIe slots for network adapters.

A1K

This model is half the size of the A900 but offers almost the same number of expansion slots. Like its counterpart, it does not include internal drives.
